What’s new in Control-M 9.0.18

From now on (v9.0.18), Control-M will receive major updates yearly.

Along with this release the following new/enhancements are released.

  1. In-Place Upgrade – Less downtime on upgrading Control-M/Enterprise Manger (EM) and Control-M/Server
  2. Control-M 9.0.18 now supports and compatible with version 9 clients. Some new features introduced in v9.0.18 may not work. By disabling Client Compatibility mode, it is no longer prompt the client not compatible error.
  3. Control-M/Server 9.0.18 can now support v9 Enterprise Manager (EM).
  4. Control-M/Enterprise Manager (EM) 9.0.18 can now support lower version Control-M/Servers.
  5. From Control-M Welcome page, client upgrades can be triggered.
  6. Client Deploy feature allows installation/upgrade of clients
  7. Client Deploy feature allows directly installing latest client, instead of installing GA version and applying fix packs.
  8. Application Packs helps to deploy plugins fast and easy.
  9. Application Packs can be deployed on multiple agents
  10. SMART folder behaviour is now like cyclic job and all the jobs in the SMART folder are treated as a single entity
  1. Now rerunning the folder, all jobs in that folder will rerun and the dependencies will be maintained
  2. End Folder attribute helps to mark completion point when a folder contains more than one logical end. Upon marking End Folder, the status of the folder will change to Complete and no other jobs in that folder will run.
  3. Simulate variable (job submission variables, system variables, user-defined variables, global variables and pool variables) resolved before or during job submission
  4. New web-based Control-M Reporting feature replaces existing Reporting facility.
  5. BIRT engine replaces SAP Crystal Reports engine to generate up-to date reports.
  6. No Need client to generate reports
  7. Centralized Report – All reports outputs are on the server.
  8. Report Preview option to view sample without running the report.
  9. Older Control-M version jobs needs to be migrated to use the Control-M Reporting feature.
  10. In Monitoring domain, enable or disable Command-Line and Node ID/Group fields for non-admin users.
  11. In Monitoring Domain, now users can save recent Viewpoints – Save all recent Viewpoints or Save last Viewpoint
  12. Two (2) New BIM alerts are added
    1. Service is OK – service completed successfully
    2. Service late past deadline – service exceeds deadline
  13. New HTML5 Control-M Workload Change Manager (WCM) web interface.
  14. Control-M Workload Change Manager (WCM) and Control-M Self-Service (SLS) web interfaces are merged into single interface with three (3) domains.
    1. Planning – Define and Edit jobs and its properties
    2. Monitoring – Monitor job status, errors and perform job actions.
    3. Managed File Transfer (MFT) – Search for files transferred and control MFT job properties
  15. Control-M now supports, Oracle, MSSQL, external PostgreSQL and Amazon Web Services Remote Database Support (RDS) for Postgres
  16. Control-M can be installed on Amazon Linux
  17. Control-M Help is now hosted at BMC Documentation portal
