The cloud can and do fail

A lot of people think that putting things on the cloud auto-magically means no more downtime and no more worries.  Well as you can see even AWS, arguably one of the largest providers, can fail.

A lot of people think that putting things on the cloud auto-magically means no more downtime and no more worries.  Well as you can see even AWS, arguably one of the largest providers, can fail.

Btw even if they don’t fail you can still fail. It’s true there are plenty of  redundancy and high availability mechanisms offered by AWS and similar cloud providers. However YOU have to set them up. And they are by no means simple. That means significant investment in time and costs.

No doubt cloud has its advantages, but it is important to understand it for what it is. And not to be misguided into a false sense of security.
