Users
who use FootPrints
to manage customer service and support issue tickets would at one
time or other have faced long drawn out issues that require a substantial
number of email or phone call exchanges. As all these exchanges
are dutifully time stamped and filed within the issue history either
automatically (for case of email) or manually by the agent (for
case of phone calls) it can be hard to tell one description from
another in a long list.
FootPrints
has a little known but very helpful feature that allows issue description
background colours to toggle between two alternating colours so
that it's easier to read. Here's what we mean :

If you like this cool feature, here's how you can
enable this feature. Look for a file named MRlocalDefs under the
cgi subdirectory of FootPrints. Open the file using an editor like
Wordpad and add the following 2 lines anywhere within the file :
$ALTERNATING_DESC_COLOR1="#####";
$ALTERNATING_DESC_COLOR2="#####";
replace #'s with value in hexadecimal of your desired
colours. Remember the semicolons at the end of each line.
Background colours of description generations should
toggle between the two custom colours on all views of existing description
(details page and view current description popup from edit page).
