User Rating:  / 2

Below are some issues and how to troubleshoot SAP Business Object Business Intelligence 4.1 installation which I encountered so far.

Environment: Windows 2012 R2

1.       Cannot open Central Configuration Manager

-          Installation completed

-          You can open both CMC (http://<servername>:<port>/BOE/CMC and BI Launchpad (http://<servername>:<port>/BOE/BI URLs

-          When try to open Central Configuration Manager nothing happens

-          Cannot open Universal Designer ((IRepo Access::Retreive Auth mode Infos) Class not registered error)

-          It might cause due to incompatibility SAP Business Object BI installed on Windows Server 2012

-          Other cause might be due to wrong version of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package has been installed. During the installation of SAP BI 4.1, different versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package will be installed if they do not already exist on the server.

Make sure you don’t have any other version other than below version before you install SAP BO BI 4.1, otherwise you might encounter issue.

-          Check the compatibility matrix and make sure your SAP Business Object BI is at least 4.1 SP 2 version for Windows 2012

Refer to http://www.sap.com/documents/2016/05/e23d0b85-737c-0010-82c7-eda71af511fa.html#

-          If you found there’s other version than below version for Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 and 2010, then you need to uninstall them and you must do clean uninstall your SAP BO BI 4.1 (see section below) before you can reinstall it.

-          If your SAP Business Object BI is not compatible, the you must do clean uninstallation (see section below) before you reinstall with the correct version

2.       Cannot load CMC and BI Launchpad

-          Installation completed

-          You can open Central Configuration Manager and other services and client such as Web rich Client  and Universal Designer

-          However when you try to open both  (http://<servername>:<port>/BOE/CMC and BI Launchpad (http://<servername>:<port>/BOE/BI URLs you get error 404

-          You verified that tomcat service being used for SAP BI is running fine

Cause: The CMC application was not deployed properly since the JAVA_HOME was not set correctly.

-          Right click on Computer and select Properties.

-          Click Advanced system settings.

-          Click Environment Variables.

-          Stop the Tomcat server from Central Configuration Manager.

-          Go to <SAP BusinessObjects_install_directory>\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\wdeploy\conf\.

-          Open config.tomcat6 (or config.tomcat7 in BI4.1) in a notepad and change the following:

o   as_dir=Tomcat installation directory.

o   as_instance=localhost

o   as_service_name=name of Tomcat service (open Start Menu -> All Programs -> Apache Tomcat <version> -> Configure Tomcat and note the Service Name).

-          Open <SAP BusinessObjects_install_directory>\SAP BusinessObjects\ SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\wdeploy\ in command prompt.

If you are a FootPrints user, you will know that it comes with a pretty good survey feature. However if you are surveying external customers (i.e customers who do not have access to your network) then you have to decide between exposing FootPrints to your external customers or not use the FootPrints survey feature.
